The group has a new Nordics and Baltics strategy, and intends to withdraw from Turkey.
Changes to group executive management reflect new thinking and will be completed by the end of this year. Negotations for the sale of Telia’s indirect stake in Turkcell are ongoing.
New blood
Austrian Markus Messerer will become SVP, Chief of Strategy, Innovation & Head of Global Business, joining Telia from Alltron, which is Swiss IT group Competec’s B2B business, where he is CEO. Before Competec he was Head of Corporate Strategy at Swisscom.
Swede Rachel Samrén will be appointed SVP, Chief External Affairs, Governance & Trust Officer. At the moment she is EVP, Chief External Affairs Officer and Member of the Group Executive Team of Millicom.
Messerer and Samrén will join Telia Company in the fourth quarter.
Internal promotion
Dan Strömberg is being promoted to SVP, Head of Lithuania, Estonia and Denmark (LED), while continuing in his present role as CEO for Telia Lithuania. He has held various roles at Telia since the 1990s and will assume the new one from 1 August.
Goodbyes
As a consequence of the changes, Ingrid Stenmark SVP, Head of CEO Office, Åsa Jamal SVP, Head of Group Communications and Emil Nilsson SVP, Head of LED, will leave the company.
Peter Borsos, SVP, Head of Telia Global, will continue in his present role and oversee Group Communications until the new organisation is implemented and Messerer and Samrén are in place, then he too will leave the company.
