    Telenor catches new M2M solution from Bluefish

    Telenor Connexion, the M2M arm of the Norway-based operator, has developed a new product to help companies handle large-scale IoT SIM deployments.

    The Network Safeguard Solution was built in partnership with SIM-card provider Bluefish Technologies. The operator said the service would allow it to provide a “robust and reliable” environment for companies wishing to deploy a SIM-heavy M2M network.

    It claimed telecoms companies will be under pressure given the predicted explosion in M2M connections, with suggestions it could top 100 billion connections by 2020.

    Stephen Bryant, CTO of Telenor Connexion, said: “Bluefish Technologies is unique in its full understanding of SIM-based technologies and solutions to manage the entire lifecycle of M2M/IoT SIMs.

    “The Network Safeguard Solution will help Telenor Connexion to continue to scale up the volumes of SIMs on our networks and to offer even better and more reliable connected experience for our customers.”

    Parag Mittal, Solutions Director of Bluefish Technologies, added: “M2M/IoT is an increasingly important source of connections growth for MNOs and the Network Safeguard Solution will help in maintaining overall Quality of Service (QoS) as well as ensuring sustainable growth.”

    The partnership is the latest move by Telenor Connexion to develop its M2M network. Last month it installed a new “Network Friendly Mode”, built by Swiss company u-blox, which stops IoT applications overloading networks by enforcing time delays and setting a limited on how many time a module can try to connect a network.

    Along with a range of other players, it has worked with the GSMA to produce a set of guidelines for companies wishing to set up efficient M2M networks.
