Telefónica brings AI into LUCA’s embrace

    -

Telefónica’s data unit LUCA is integrating artificial intelligence into its analytics as it looks to broaden its big data capabilities.

The operator said it wanted to mark the unit’s second birthday by rolling machine and deep learning into its analytic capabilities.

The collation and analysis of data is central to an enterprise’s digital transformation, Telefónica said.

Elena Gil Lizasoain, Global Big Data Director at Telefónica and CEO of LUCA, said: “At Telefónica transformation is synonymous with adaptation and therefore it is very important to take advantage of the benefits provided by the different waves of technology as soon as possible.

“We believe that our customers value very positively the benefits provided by Big Data in the management of their businesses and we want to continue accompanying them in taking that leap and help them making even better decisions also based on artificial intelligence.”

Since being created in October 2016, LUCA has already worked with more than 150 customers in more than 20 countries. It is available in Telefónica’s operating markets, as well as in China, where it works with China Unicom, and Israel, where Pelephone uses its technology.

It also provides a sports analytics service to increase performance in the likes of cycling and eSports.
