Tata, China Telecom team up for global video delivery

-

Tata Communications has teamed up with China Telecom to deliver new media and entertainment services to global customers using its Video Connect platform.

China Telecom will use Tata Communicationsโ€™ technology to deliver live broadcasts of sporting events happening in its home market.

Tataโ€™s Video Connect service consists of an end-to-end managed, Dynamic synchronous transfer mode (DMT) network based on Tataโ€™s fibre backbone.

DMT technology supports media interfaces including DVB-ASI, SD-SDI and HD-SDI, ensuring high quality of service and minimal packet loss for โ€œseamlessโ€ global connectivity, Tata said.

The offering forms part of Tataโ€™s recent-launched Media Ecosystem, which provides asset and workflow management, cloud-based layout, automation and control, storage and OTT platforms as a service.

Pengcheng Fan, VP of Product Development at China Telecom Global, said: โ€œMobile video consumption is growing at an exponential rate with a robust growth trajectory expected in the next five years. Through our new video network partnership, China Telecom Global can provide seamless connectivity for our media and entertainment customers across China.

โ€œThe partnership is defined by connectivity to key global destinations, premium quality and industry leading SLAs.โ€

In return, Tata said it would be able to leverage China Telecomโ€™s video network to give its customers access to new global broadcasters, media and entertainment providers.

Brian Morris, VP of Global Media & Entertainment services at Tata Communications, said:  โ€œTata Communications is dedicated to offering its media customers access to key media hotspots for the distribution of premium broadcast quality content across the globe.

โ€œThis partnership with China Telecom Global is a natural step in that direction and marks the expansion of Tata Communicationsโ€™ Global Video Network reach into China. We are excited to leverage China Telecom Globalโ€™s video network in China and to offer our customers access to this key regionโ€โ€‹
