Partnership with Google delivers new, low cost 5G tablet

T-Mobile has added a 5G Android tablet to its T Phone range of affordable 5G devices following collaboration with partner Google.

In January of this year, Deutsche Telekom launched smartphones under its own brand for the first time with the T Phone and T Phone Pro. The so-called T Tablet is now the telcos first Android tablet.

T-Mobile has launched across ten markets, with a variety of bundled offers: Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Montenegro, northern Macedonia, Poland, Slovakia and the United States. In the US it is branded Revvl.

At launch the tablet will be offered for one euro with every Magenta Mobile or data plan. Without a data plan the T Tablet has a one-time fee of €219 in the German market. In the US, T-Mobile customers get “Netflix on Us”, free in-flight wi-fi, free international high-speed data, “T-Mobile Tuesdays” if they also take out a Go5G Plus plan.

The T Tablet has a 10.4-inch screen, Dual SIM, an 8-megapixel front-facing camera, and the option to expand the 128GB internal storage to 2TB via micro-SD card. In addition, 100 GB of Google One cloud storage is included for free for three months.

“With the new T Tablet, we are taking another important step toward making the network of the future accessible to everyone – and at a very affordable price. Our goal is for even more people to benefit from the possibilities of our ever-growing 5G network,” said Deutsche Telekom head of marketing communications, training and mobile devices Dr Christian Loefert.

“We are particularly pleased that we can use our devices to drive digitization in the education sector. A digital, connected life is the future and Telekom wants to play an active role in shaping it,” he added.

The telco also updated some of the T Phone range including more ROM memory, NFC, an updated front camera, and the Android 13 operating system. The refreshed T Phone is also available from August 24 for 1 euro, for example, with the MagentaMobil S rate plan.

“Our REVVL 6 series saw major success – consistently landing in our top five best-selling affordable 5G smartphones – so we’re building on that success and expanding the line further to launch the REVVL TAB 5G,” said Omar Tazi, EVP & chief product officer at T-Mobile US.

“With this step we continue to fulfil the mission of digital inclusion, expanding access to 5G technology not only by developing infrastructure, but also by offering affordable 5G devices,” said Crnogorski Telekom head of direct sales Jesenka Mihailović in Montenegro.

“We chose the period of the beginning of the school year for the introduction of new products, in order to take advantage of the opportunity to bring T Phone and T Tablet to pupils, students and their parents,” said Telekom’s director of the B2C Slovak segment said Mladen Mitič.
