Orange chooses Nokia, Ericsson and Oracle for its industrial strength 5G Standalone networks in Europe

Nokia's subscriber access management gets a massive vote of confidence, with Oracle core signalling also a universal choice

    -

Orange has chosen its technology partners for installing industrial 5G Standalone (SA) Networks along with Orange Business Services.

Ericsson will supply its 5G SA core network for any OBS projects in Belgium, Spain, Luxembourg and Poland. In France and Slovakia Orange will use Nokia’s 5G SA core network. Nokia’s Subscriber Data Management will be used in everywhere, while Oracle Communications will be trusted with 5G core signalling and routing in all countries

Any remaining network functions, such as the radio access network, will be fine-tuned by software updates of the existing equipment.

Orange says the technology is available in its labs for any partners that need to learn, test and invent new solutions to any networking snags.

Orange says 5G Stand Alone (SA) systems will be a major milestone for creating customised services for all sectors of the economy. 5G SA and its network slicing options empower Orange to adapt its range of mobile private networks according to its enterprise customers’ needs. It can either create a virtual private network within Orange’s public network or create a hybrid private network using shared equipment in the Orange network and dedicated equipment at the customer’s site for critical flows and data.

“For Orange, 2022 is a year of preparation, testing and deployment to facilitate commercial launches from 2023” the Orange Group said, in a statement. “Orange is mobilising its experts and setting up a network integration factory to test and validate technical chains, the performance of end-to-end services and to conduct tests with users.”
