Nokia launches fresh security solution for operators and their customers

    -

Nokia has launched a new Managed Security Service aiming to protect operators from mobile, IP and fixed networks from attacks and enabling them to offer the solution to their own customers.

The vendor is also launching a scorecard service called the Security Risk Index, which analyses an operator’s network and suggests how it can be improved and better protected.

After the index has been completed, Nokia staff design new security infrastructure, information management and monitoring systems to ensure a network is defended against threats and that it meets applicable standards and regulations. The solution will run on Nokia’s NetGuard software.

Operators can also offer elements of the solution to their own enterprise customers, which Nokia said could potentially open new sales opportunities and increase customer loyalty.

The Finnish company said it had developed the service in response to increasingly complex networks and data being carried via the Internet of Things, personal devices and through social and business applications.

Friedrich Trawoeger, Head of Managed Services at Nokia, said: “Operators must be prepared for a security breach. A dynamic, managed security proposition is needed to eliminate possible threats, so we are taking a comprehensive approach to security from assessing risks to managing and maintaining our customers’ security infrastructure.

“This is the best approach to defend against attacks. In addition, the resale white label model will allow our customers to monetize the security opportunity.”
