FancyFon Unveils Support for BlackBerry 9800, Based on the New OS 6

    -

FancyFon today unveiled support for BlackBerry Torch 9800 and the new Blackberry operating system 6.

The US mobile operator AT&T and Canadian-based Research In Motion (RIM) officially co-announced the smartphone BlackBerry Torch 9800 and OS 6, on Thursday 12th August 2010. The BlackBerry 9800 is the first device from RIM to offer the new BlackBerry OS 6, and at this moment in time, it is available exclusively from AT&T.

BlackBerry OS 6 is RIM’s newest operating system and includes enhancements such as an improved interface for devices with touch screens or trackpads, and a WebKit browser that powers both the Apple iPhone and Google Android browsers. Additionally, OS 6 boasts improved multimedia tools, such as album art and the syncing of photos, videos, and music, wirelessly over WiFi or via a USB cable.

Dietmar Fuchs, COO at FancyFon commented; “FancyFon enjoys a very close strategic relationship with RIM BlackBerry, serving many of its customers across the globe with a state-of-the-art mobile device management platform. Therefore it was critical for FancyFon to be first out of the gate in providing device management support for the new Torch 9800, to enable our customers to upgrade to the new device, safe in the knowledge that it will be seamlessly integrated into, and supported by, the FancyFon platform.”

FancyFon has provided specialist remote support for RIM’s BlackBerry smartphone users since February 2009, empowering mobile operators and enterprise customers to manage BlackBerry devices remotely. FancyFon supports users that are connected to all RIM server platforms: a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server (BES), a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server Express, and a BlackBerry® Internet Service (BIS), by enabling access to the end user’s phone screen, keyboard, applications and files, via over-the-air diagnostic tools.

FancyFon Mobility Center, FAMOC®, is a centralized mobile device lifecycle management platform that enables customers to control multiple mobile devices based on multiple mobile platforms in real time, over the air. This provides mobile handset users with the following benefits:

    – Improved business productivity and increased employee efficiency
    – Seamless roll out of new and improved services, over the air
    – Removed administrative complexity and minimized support and management costs
    – Increased privacy and data security to address the compliance issues of corporate clients

FAMOC simplifies the process of moving user data from multiple platform handsets to BlackBerry smartphones, enabling the centralized management of corporate handsets, regardless of operating system and manufacturer. FAMOC empowers organizations to remotely install any application, wipe a device and SD card, or create and roll out new functionality to the BlackBerry smartphone fleet, from a single common FAMOC console or via multiple BESs.
