New partnership builds on their original deal, set up in 2022, for BT’s data to reside on Google Cloud
BT and Google Cloud have announced a new partnership restating their commitment to cybersecurity services.
This builds on the agreement reached by the two in March last year for BT Group to house its data on Google Cloud and leverage the hyperscaler’s analytics and AI. At the time, BT and Google Cloud said they intended to incorporate solutions from Mandiant, a market leader in threat intelligence solutions acquired by Google in 2022. BT also said of that original partnership with Google Cloud that it would is trial Google’s Vertex AI and Duet AI capabilities.
Now BT will become will deliver Google’s Autonomic Security Operations (ASO) as a managed service, based on Google Chronicle. Google describes ASO as an “holistic framework that combines principles, practices, and tools that enable organisations to take an adaptive and automated approach to threat management”.
Detection and data lakes
It is underpinned by Chronicle’s peta-byte scale detection, a data lake powered by Google Cloud’s data and analytics platform BigQuery, and analytics via Looker. The solution is intended to lessen how long it takes to detect and respond to threats, which it claims is essential in the face of the increasing volume and complexity of cyber-attacks.
Customers will have the support of BT’s Security Advisory Services team and their experience in security operations and integration. The plan is to help customers optimise their wider security architecture to align closely with their priorities and ambition.
First step
