BT goes on security recruitment drive

    -

BT is recruiting 900 security specialists this year as it looks to bolster its anti-cybercrime offering.

The operator said 170 of the new posts will go to graduates and apprentices that have been training in its Security Academy. They have been learning about physical security, penetration testing, threat intelligence, risk management, and sales.

It already employs more than 2,500 security professionals with dedicated operations centres located globally. Sales from security services have been growing at a double digit rate, it said.

BT’s work in this area covers consumer, business and governmental needs, from anti-virus and parental controls to complex security solutions deployed by multinationals.

The majority of roles will be located at BT’s security operation centres in London, Sevenoaks and Cardiff. However, BT added that it wanted to grow its teams across Continental Europe, the Americas, Middle East and Asia Pacific.

Mark Hughes, President of BT Security, said: “A number of high-profile security and data breaches have dominated the headlines in recent months, and this has led to a surge in interest from both consumers and IT departments wanting to know how best they can protect themselves in the digital world.

“BT plans to remain at the forefront, innovating in cybersecurity, by hiring some of the best talent while training up the next generation of experts at our BT Security Academy.”

In March, BT partnered with Intel in a fresh collaboration to improve security and build solutions to protect against cyberattacks.
