Huawei launches SingleSON product for the het net

    -

Two years after it outlined its concept for a SingleSON solution, Huawei has launched a product. The solution is aimed at the demand from operators for increased automisation and real time (or near real-time) operation in the optimisation of multi-layer, multi-mode networks.

The aim of such solutions is to reduce the operational cost of optimising networks that are growing in complexity, but also to increase responsiveness to customer needs and demands. SON solutions are provided by stand-alone software vendors as well as by the major network equipment vendors, such as Huawei. SON is seen as increasingly important in multi-mode and multi layer (Het Net) networks. Solutions can help operators manage the complexity of such networks by processing the increased depth and breadth of network and user data to automatically invoke newly standardised SON technologies and interference mitigate techniques.

Huawei said its cross-network processing is carried out by a newly introduced multi-system co-processing unit, the eCoordinator, a solution that monitors network performance and status in real time, providing analysis that achieves "true automated optimisation of multi-mode and multi-level networks".

A statement from the company said:
The eCoordinator provides operators with a comprehensive analysis of network resource usage, allocates radio resources more efficiently for each user, and offers the industry’s best optimised radio resource utilisation and user experience.

Ying Weimin, Huawei President for GSM&UMTS&LTE Wireless Networks, said, “In February 2012, SingleSON ANR [Automatic Neighbour Relations] was successfully put into commercial use on an LTE commercial network in Cologne, Germany, as the world’s first deployment of automatic neighbour-cell configurations on a commercial network. In June 2012, the Validation aICIC [Adaptive Inter Cell Interference Cancellation] function was tested in Hong Kong, and was shown to be enable cell edge user data transfer rate enhancements of up to 30% on heavy load traffic networks. We believe that Huawei’s SingleSON solution will benefit more networks around the world in the future, helping global operators to achieve business success in the MBB era.”
