Hyundai is equipping every new car with built-in navigation in Europe with HERE’s latest map services.
HERE’s data gives drivers voice-activated turn by turn navigation, 3D mapping and million of local points of interest.
At the same time, South Korea-based Hyundai is offering to provide any of its vehicles from 2010 onwards with in-built navigation systems with free lifetime updates for its own MapCare mapping system, which the manufacturer first launched in 2009.
Bruno Bourguet, Senior VP Sales and Business Development at HERE, said: “Accurate and fresh map data are essentials for embedded navigation systems. HERE creates maps for a world in constant motion and we are proud to continue our long tradition of working together with Hyundai to improve the driving experience.”
HERE was sold by Nokia last year to a car consortium comprising Audi, BMW and Daimler. It said it is in the process of speaking to other car manufacturers to work out the best way of providing in-car mapping.
Its maps are put together by more than 80,000 sources, which includes information gathered from its own 3D mapping vehicles as well as other fleets of connected cars and vehicles.
